VES Awards Nomination Event - Judges Needed!

Be a Judge at the VES Awards Nomination Event!

Calling all VES members in Adelaide and Melbourne!  You are invited to participate in our Nomination Panel on Saturday, January 4, 2020. This is your chance to determine who will ultimately walk up to the podium at the 18th Annual VES Awards. 

Past participants know that this is the must-attend event of the season. Not only will you view some of the most amazing visual imagery of 2019, you’ll get to see exclusive behind-the-scenes footage while participating in the single best networking opportunity of the year. It’s a chance to see old friends and learn new techniques that you can apply to your own craft.

Judges who register to participate will receive information about specific times and locations from their local Section representatives once their applications are reviewed.

MEL - BOMBSHELL Screening

Synopsis: Inspired by the 2005 riots in Paris, Les Misérables – directed by Ladj Ly – follows Stéphane (Damien Bonnard), a recent transplant to the impoverished suburb of Montfermeil, as he joins the local anti-crime squad. Working alongside his unscrupulous colleagues Chris (Alexis Manenti) and Gwada (Djebril Zonga), Stéphane struggles to maintain order amidst the mounting tensions between local gangs. When an arrest turns unexpectedly violent, the three officers must reckon with the aftermath and keep the neighborhood from spiraling out of control.

Synopsis: From director Robert Eggers comes the tale of two lighthouse keepers (Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson) on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. Trapped and isolated due to a seemingly never-ending storm, the two men engage in an escalating battle of wills, as tensions boil over and mysterious forces (which may or may not be real) loom all around them.
